„Networks No. 46“ by Suzanne Kolmeder, Stuttgart Germany.
120x100cm Acryl on Canvas on double frame.
In her NETWORKS. series, Suzanne Kolmeder explores the origins of life through the endless possibilities of connection—both human and technological. Taking a bird’s-eye view, the artist perceives the world as a kind of map.
The network, which slowly yet steadily spreads across the globe, raises the question: is it a blessing or a growing dependency? In the vast array of media-driven offerings, do we risk losing ourselves—or perhaps even finding ourselves? On one hand, the original world seems to recede into the background; on the other, it is brought back into focus through progress. Connections take center stage, yet without a foundation, even these would not endure. Technological boundaries and junctions act as signposts, even as our perception continues to shift.
In both interpersonal and professional realms, the network appears as a blessing. Our connections grant us a wealth of opportunities—almost limitless. Networks of friendship and work evolve, and we are free to choose our own paths. Doors open; new branches emerge. A sense of boundlessness unfolds, offering either eternity or detachment.
Yet even in the “fractured” version of NETWORKS., Kolmeder leaves space for us to hold onto the origin, to absorb new impressions, and thereby expand the web of connection further.

Suzanne Kolmeder, born in 1962, has been active as an artist since 1990 and has worked as a freelance artist in Stuttgart since 2011.
Her abstract paintings are created through the application of multiple layers of acrylic on canvas. This technique, along with the use of partially reflective colors, brings the works to life and allows them to be experienced from different perspectives. The layered approach creates a sense of three-dimensionality, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves deeply in the compositions.
Since 2015, Kolmeder has focused exclusively on thematic series, which she continuously develops and expands.
The series NETWORKS., DEEP NETWORKS MATRIX., FLOATING CITIES, and BETWEEN THE LINES are interconnected and conceptually linked.
